A Movie Review

I recently went to see the movie Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. In all honesty, I would like to give this film a 4.5 out of 5 stars, because it was just the right amount of everything that makes a movie worth watching.

I loved how Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson were so in sync with their counterparts in the real world. Dwayne Johnson pulled off the being scared and nerdy guy while trying to be the macho guy without really knowing how. Kevin Hart’s comedic timing always made me laugh. Jack Black acting like a girl was hilarious. He pulled it off and made the movie more fun. Karen Gillan made us believe that she didn’t know how to be a hot girl. I loved the part where she was trying to flirt.

I was stoked about the storyline and how it had throwbacks to the original. I liked that the story flowed even though at points it could be cheesy, but what PG-13 movie isn’t. The characters were well done, but I think there could have been a little bit more work done here. The soundtrack was excellent and made you feel like you were a part of the movie.

The thing that I didn’t like about the movie was Van Pelt and how he wasn’t true to the character. I know they were trying to modernize the film, but this could have been better thought out. He was more of an older distinguished gentleman than the young power hungry man they portrayed him as.

Other than that the movie was great. I recommend you go and see it if you haven’t. I think this is worth going to see just to see Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black be their characters and make us laugh in the process.
